"I will make an
everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them
good..." -Jeremiah 32:40

I remember many years
ago I swore before family and friends that “Come what may, I would love her
till my dying day”. Come what
may? Aren’t covenants and
promises made because there is a possibility that things could go terribly
wrong…that the worst could come our way?
If there wasn’t that possibility then why do we bother making them?!
Well, the worst has come my
way. Now the mountains are high and rugged and the rivers are wide but they
are my place in this world. These
are the mountains I will die on. This
is not really about anyone else but me.
There
are many questions that challenge me in life but none haunt me more than this
one: What kind of a man do I want
to be?
The seasons have changed in my family—the
storm clouds have gathered. But let the world
disintegrate all around me for this will always be true: Come what may, I will
love her until the end of time—even to my dying day.

“Christ
will never abandon those for whom He
has died.
We may leave Him and be overwhelmed with temptation but Christ
can never turn from one for whom He has paid the ransom of His own life.”
-Ellen
White
