Ellen
White on Faith
“Are you tempted
to give way to feelings of anxious foreboding or utter despondency? In the
darkest days, when appearances seem most forbidding, fear not. Have faith in
God. He knows your need. He has all power. His infinite love and compassion
never weary. Fear not that He will fail of fulfilling His promise. He is eternal
truth. Never will He change the covenant He has made with those who love Him.
And He will bestow upon His faithful servants the measure of efficiency that
their need demands.” Patriarchs
and Prophets 164-165
“We
need to look for no outward evidence of the blessing. The gift is in the promise, and we may go about our work
assured that what God has promised He is able to perform, and that the gift,
which we already possess, will be realized when we need it most.”
Education 258
“The
conditions met, the promise is unequivocal.”
Ibid
“As
he (Elijah) prayed, his faith reached out and grasped the promises of Heaven,
and he persevered in prayer until his petitions were answered. He did not wait
for the full evidence that God had heard him, but was willing to venture all on
the slightest token of divine favor. And yet what he was enabled to do under
God, all may do in their sphere of activity in God's service; for of the prophet
from the mountains of Gilead it is written: "Elias was a man subject to
like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it
rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months." James
5:17. Faith such as this is needed
in the world today--faith that will lay hold on the promises of God's word and
refuse to let go until Heaven hears.” Prophets and Kings 157
His
promises will be fulfilled. They have never failed; they never can fail.
And as we draw near to Jesus, and rejoice in the fullness of His love,
our doubt and darkness will disappear in the light of His presence.”
Steps to Christ 111-112
“Every
saint who comes to God with a true heart, and sends his honest petitions to him
in faith, will have his prayers answered…Our confidence in God should be
strong; and when we need it most, the blessing will fall upon us like a shower
of rain. When the servants of God
pray for His Spirit and blessing, it sometimes comes immediately; but it is not
always then bestowed. At such
times, faint not. Let you faith
hold fast the promise that is will come. Let
your trust be fully in God…I saw that every prayer which is sent up in faith
from an honest heart, will be heard of God and answered, and the one that sent
up the petition will have the blessing when he needs it most, and it will often
exceed his expectations…not a prayer of a true saint is lost if sent up in
faith from an honest heart.” Testimonies
Volume 1 120-121
“When
we have learned to do this,(to pray in faith) we shall KNOW that our prayers are
answered. God will do for us
‘exceeding abundantly’, ‘according to the riches of His glory’, and
‘the working of His mighty power’.” The
Desire of Ages 200
“So
we may ask for these blessings, and believe that we receive them, and thank God
that we have received them.” Steps
to Christ 51
“When,
with earnestness and intensity, we breathe a prayer in the name of Christ, there
is in that very intensity a pledge from God that He is about to answer our
prayer ‘exceedingly abundantly’.” Christ
Object Lessons 148
“I
entreat you to let your trembling faith again grasp the promises of God.
Bear your whole weight upon them with unwavering faith; for they will
not, they cannot fail.” Testimonies
volume 2 497
“Here
is faith—naked faith: To believe that we receive the blessing even before we
realize it.” Early Writings 72
“You
let go of the arm of the Lord too soon. Press
your petitions to the throne, and hold on by strong faith.
The promises are sure. Believe
you receive the things you ask for, and you shall have them.”
Early Writings 73
“God
was the strength of Judah in this crisis (when fierce enemies came against
Jehoshaphat), and He is the strength of His people today. We are not to trust in
princes, or to set men in the place of God. We are to remember that human beings
are fallible and erring, and that He who has all power is our strong tower of
defense. In every emergency we are to feel that the battle is His. His resources
are limitless, and apparent impossibilities will make the victory all the
greater.” Prophets and Kings 202
“My
covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of my lips.”
Ps 89:34
“Whoever
believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
Romans 10:11
“Believe
that you receive and you shall have.” Mark
11:24
“If
you abide in Me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall
be done for you.” John 15:7
